If you drive you can reach Budapest among others on the highway M1 from the direction of Wien or Bratislava, or on the main road 8 from the direction of Graz. From Budapest take highway M3 in the direction of Nyíregyháza, drive about 190 kilometers and then take the highway M35 according to the signs in the direction of Debrecen. Note that on all highways you have to pay motorway road tax by pre-purchasing a ticket. The tax can be paid by purchasing a vignette at petrol stations. You also can buy electronic vignette online. If you fly you arrive to Budapest Airport at one of the terminals Ferihegy 1, Ferihegy 2a or Ferihegy 2b. If you want to take a train from Budapest to Debrecen we recommend to take an InterCity train. You have to buy a supplementary ticket (which includes also the seat reservation) for the IC trains (you have to buy a seat reservation even in case your original train ticket is valid for IC trains also till Debrecen). These IC trains leave from Budapest Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) and they stop also at the Railway Station of Terminal Ferihegy 1. So you either need to reach Budapest Nyugati or Railway Station of Terminal Ferihegy 1.

From Ferihegy 1 to Debreceni Egyetem

• Take an IC train to Debrecen. Please be avare that you can by your train ticket in the building of Terminal 1. At the Railway Station of Terminal Ferihegy 1 there is no ticket office!

• You can take an Airport Minibus or a taxi ( http://www.budapestcapital.com/Airport_transfer.html ) from the airport to the Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) and choose an InterCity train to Debrecen.

• take bus 200, which leaves in about every 20 minutes. You can buy a ticket from the driver.
