Programming Contests in the 2019/2020 Fall Semester
Dear Student,
We would like to inform you about three programming contests organized by the Faculty of Informatics in the current (2019/2020/1) semester.
(1) October 20, 2019, Sunday, between 9:00 and 16:00 (the contest itself will last for 5 hours): an ICPC-style national programming contest organized by the Eötvös Loránd University and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. We expect applications for this contest from three-membered teams consisting of students who are currently attending the Faculty of Informatics. Participants will have to solve 8-12 problems of different difficulty and code the solution using Free Pascal, C, C++, Python, or Java programming language.
At the request of the organizers, contestants participating in the national contest must be registered at the registration page of the international ICPC contests. For this, we expect active cooperation from the participants, according to the following:
- First of all, please check whether you already have an account at https://icpc.baylor.edu (upper right corner: LOGIN), and if not, register as a contestant (SIGN UP).
- If you are already registered, please help your teammates in this process.
- If you want to create a new team in the system, after login, click on the "Dashboard" menu item in the upper menu line. Choose the 2019-2020 contest year from the "Select year" drop-down list, and create a new team by clicking the "CREATE A TEAM" button. Click Europe on the world map, then open "The 2019 Central Europe Regional Contest", then "The 2019 Hungarian Programming Contest", and finally click on "Magyar verseny". Give a name to the team, and check that the institution is "University of Debrecen". As a final step, specify all members of the team by adding at most three contestants. You will automatically become a member of the team if you check the checkbox labeled "I also want to participate as contestant". If all other team members are already registered in the system, you can search for them by name or email address and add them to your team.
- After registration, each team member will be notified about your actions by email. The registration of a contestant is completed only after they confirm their personal data so that the system does not designate it as an incomplete registration.
(2) October 30, 2019, Wednesday, between 10:00 and 16:00 (the contest itself will last for 5 hours): an ICPC-style programming contest organized in-house by the faculty. We expect applications for this contest from three-membered teams consisting of students who are currently attending the Faculty of Informatics. Participants will have to solve 8-12 problems of different difficulty and code the solution using Free Pascal, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python programming language. The contest is also a preliminary round for the ICPC Central European Regional Contest to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, between November 29 and December 1, 2019.
You can register for the contest at Pánovics János via email to panovics.janos@inf.unideb.hu till 12:00 on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, by providing a team name and the contestants' names and Neptun IDs.
As in the Prague contest (https://contest.felk.cvut.cz/19cerc) the accepted programming languages are only C, C++, Java, and Python, those two teams will qualify for this contest that submit the most accepted solutions in these languages at the local (in-house) contest and also participate in the national contest. Moreover, members of the qualifying teams must fulfill the eligibility requirements concerning the current ICPC contest year (https://icpc.baylor.edu/download/regionals/rules/EligibilityDecisionTree-2019.pdf).
(3) It is the eighth time this year that the Faculty of Informatics organizes the regional programming contest on Sunday, December 8, 2019. The home page of the contest is https://www.progverseny.hu, here you can find the detailed contest rules and registration (unfortunately, only in Hungarian). For further information regarding the contest and for application, please contact Pánovics János in room IK-224.
Due to the expectedly large number of applications, we keep the right concerning all three contests to rank and filter the teams by the results achieved by the team members in earlier contests, independently of the application order.
